We've been reading about the depression, so for Liberty Girls I had the kids do various chores and paid them a nickel for each thing they did. They cleaned the guinea pig cage, did my dishes, and cleaned the fish tank! It was well worth the change. For lunch they got oatmeal and a luxury of a sliced peach on top. My kids wouldn't eat the peaches, but at least the twins liked it! John was in Turtle heaven and ignored us.
