Our first vegetable garden 7/2011

Our first harvest!
We've grown a few things in flower beds in Tualatin, but other than a few berries and flowers, we had yet to have a vegetable garden!  Hard to believe since gardening was such a big part of my life growing up!  We have a gentleman in our ward who is kind enough to let us and a few others each have a plot of his land to "borrow" for the summer.  He rototilled it, and it's irrigated!  We spent this summer going out there at least once a week and it's been wonderful.
There are a few rabbits that like our garden too.   It's so exciting for the kids to see wildlife.  We even saw a field mouse the other day.
Jesse working hard.
I really enjoyed spending time outdoors, it feels good to work in the dirt (with my gardening gloves).
We laid out a picnic blanket with some snacks and toys, which worked great the first month or so, but toward the end of summer, Asher was better at crawling and liked to get into the dirt and pick the tomatoes.
She likes to wear overalls like a farmer.
Julia tending the pumpkin plants.
John played with sticks and on the rock pile and especially liked it when cousin William would come to play.
Planting onion sets.  We're so grateful for this experience!
